The wait is over for Google’s long-awaited payment service that’s been the subject of so much speculation. Google Checkout is a new system that makes it easy for online merchants to process credit-card payments, and also streamlines the checkout process for consumers. The service also raises some thorny issues for AdWords advertisers, who may be reluctant to let Google capture customer transactions, and yet advertisers that use the system may benefit from improved rankings in search results.
