Google's First Counter To Twitter & Facebook, Now Waving Goodbye
Google Wave will cease to exist at the end of the year and the program/platform stopped further development yesterday, according to the Official Google Blog.
“It sounded promising, a melange of new-world communication protocols–somewhere between an email and a chat room, but more real-time than either. Could this be Google’s killer social media app, overtaking Twitter and Facebook?” Fast Company asked.
But as the few users and people at Fast Company found it was difficult to describe what the service was and how to effectively use it.
“Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked. We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects,” Google announced.
