Google Introduces Social Sitelinks
Google recently announced the arrival of social sitelinks to its search results. Google’s social sitelinks include your friend’s name, profile photo, and a links to their profile/content on social websites, such as Twitter, YouTube, or MySpace.
They look like this:
Google said the social sitelinks are based on the same technology as Google Social Search. They use your social circle to identify relevant websites and user pages.
If, like me, you don’t see these sitelinks, Google tells you to create a Google profile and add links in your profile to other online social sites you belong to so Google can build your social circle.
Not really sure how this helps users, who presumably already know the people they follow or are friends with on these sites. Just another attempt to get “people to be more logged into Google” and get their hands on more info about you.
