Google Launches iPhone Translation App

Google launched their official iPhone Translate App with voice input for 15 languages, their official blog reported.

“The new app accepts voice input for 15 languages, and–just like the web app–you can translate a word or phrase into one of more than 50 languages,” the blog noted. “You can also listen to your translations spoken out loud in one of 23 different languages.”

Translation apps for the iPhone have been around but Google should do well with this and it is free.

There have been a few errors found on Twitter – but it is a new toy and everyone is running at it to find loopholes and errors. If you wondered what languages are on this list they are Afrikaans, Albanian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Arabic, Basque, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, Georgian, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Irish, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Malay, Maltese, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Welsh, Yiddish.
