Famous Tang Dynasty romantic poet Li Bai, born on Feb. 28, 701, is the subject of a Doodle on Google Hong Kong today:
Bai, also known as Li Po, was well-known for his drinking — as well as celebrating that topic in his poetry. One of his most famous works was titled “Drinking Alone by Moonlight” and legend has it heavy drinking resulted in his death when he tried to embrace the reflection of the moon in the Yangtze River. However, the more likely cause of death in 762 was illness brought on by the toll of heavy drinking.
