How do you create a Google Doodle that fairly represents women of all shapes and sizes? That was the challenge for Doodle artist Betsy Bauer, who designed today’s tribute to half the world’s population in celebration International Women’s Day 2013.
Indeed, Google’s special logo today tries to include as many different female faces as it can. And Bauer cleverly used the negative white space around those faces to create Google’s letters.

Here’s how Google celebrated International Women’s Day in 2012 and 2011.
Every March 8 is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women through thousands of events held around the globe, as well as highlighting gender inequalities. This year’s theme is “A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women.” You can learn more on the official International Women’s Day site.
