Microsoft launched Windows 8.1 Preview at the start of the month, and with that comes “Smart Search”: the ability to search for something across the web, your device, apps, and the cloud. Along with Smart Search, another announcement was unveiled: Bing advertisers will be a part of this new search experience.
“Now, with a single campaign setup, advertisers can connect with consumers across Bing, Yahoo and the new Windows Search with highly relevant ads for their search queries, Bing said in its announcement. “In addition, Bing Ads will include web previews of websites and the latest features like site links, location and call extensions, making it easier for consumers to complete tasks and for advertisers to drive qualified leads.”
Bing said ad campaigns that are already participating on the Yahoo Bing Network are automatically eligible to show up without any additional setup.
In addition to Smart Search advertising, Bing also announced news for developers at Microsoft Build 2013.
The new services for developers focus on three key areas, Bing said:
- To bring entities and the world’s knowledge to applications.
- To enable applications to deliver more natural and intuitive user experiences.
- To bring an awareness of the physical world into applications.
Bing said the services allow developers to “take advantage of the enormous investments that we’ve made in search technologies” and “harness many of those same technologies to build more compelling and human experiences than ever before.”
