Pinterest has streamlined its search interface, in addition to adding trending topics and spellcheck.
Previously, search results on Pinterest were buried behind different filters for Pins, pinners and boards. Relevant results now show up right after users type a keyword. The new filter button at the right side of the search box further allows users to toggle between what they’re looking at: boards, pinners, Pins, or just their own Pins.
Pinterest can also show users the hottest subjects pinners are searching for. When users first tap into search, they can see the top-trending searches. For the time being, this feature is only available in the U.S. Because nearly 12 percent of searches contain a spelling error, the platform is also taking spelling mistakes into account, displaying similar results users may be searching for.
Celebrities and major brands are now marked with a check. If a user is looking for a notable person, they will see Pins around the celebrity, or they can just follow the person to keep up with his or her latest Pins.
According to Pinterest, these updates, which have been in the works for a while, have helped more than twice as many searchers find the brands, people and boards they want to follow.
