Google Penalizes BeatThatQuote.com Less Than 24 Hours After Buying It
Another website has suffered the wrath of Google after it was exposed for using doorway pages and gateway sites, buying links that pass PageRank, and using paid blog reviews. The twist: Google just bought this company less than 24 hours ago.
UK price comparison site BeatThatQuote.com, acquired yesterday by Google, was buried in the SERPs — much like JCPenney and Overstock.com in recent weeks — after Aaron Wall revealed the company has been violating Google’s guidelines.
Smartly, Google penalized the domain, but as Wall notes, “when Google allows it to rank again in 30 days it will rank better than ever.”
Beyond that, a controversial BeatThatQuote.com TV advertisement in 2009 received more than 100 complaints for encouraging workplace bullying, although the company was eventually cleared.
