Instagram has announced a new way for users to share their content with the ability to embed both photos and videos across the web. In an announcement, Instagram reps said this has been one of the most-requested features since the launch of video on Instagram. With the new feature, users can embed Instagram content with just a couple clicks.
The announcement highlighted the possibilities of this new feature for brands:
- A sports publication can take you behind the scenes at a game with videos or photos from the athletes.
- A news organization can provide a real-time view into a breaking news event.
- A magazine can bring their readers behind the scenes at a fashion show or Hollywood event.
The embed feature ensures the owner of the content is properly attributed on the embedded content by Instagram username, and clicking on the Instagram logo brings users to the owner’s Instagram account.
For those who have privacy settings on their content, Instagram said nothing will change. This feature is only available to those with public settings on photos and videos.
More than 16 billion photos have been shared on Instagram, and with this latest announcement, there’s likely to be many more.
