Twitter Releases Two Pane Web Interface
Yesterday Twitter announced their new interface for Twitter.com, the most active of all Twitter clients. Their ambition is to speed up the interface and make it easier to use. As part of that mission they have created a separate pain to view embedded content, so that users do not have to leave the website.
Here are the new features they have introduced, quoted directly from their blog:
I have not seen the new interface in action yet. Has the feature rolled out to you? Let us know what you think of it in the comments. Techcrunch also have a good write up and review of the new features.
You’ll notice that the new interface somewhat resembles Facebook insofar as you no longer need to click out to the original destination. At the launch event, they responded to a question about this, saying that it’s still Twitter.com and that they “chose not to do media within the tweets”, but in the side panel. Interestingly, the new interface is entirely built on Twitter’s own API which shows how much potential it has for developers.
