Google Not Tops In South Korea
Google fails to make inroads in South Korea from the Associated Press is a
interesting look at how there’s at least one country where Google is not tops or
a major player: South Korea. Instead, the human-based
Naver service remains far-and-away the most
popular.
It’s the one exception I know of where a question-answering model has
succeeded and thrived, compared to those
run by Google and
Yahoo. The relatively small slice of the web in Korean, along with
apparently poor automated search technology initially, has allowed Naver to
succeed.
