TIPPR, a daily deals website, has compiled an infographic which summarizes consumer activity in the daily deal space for the 2011 holiday season. This past holiday season I made it a goal not to go to the store once. I purchased everything online, a lot from the money I had left over from my own daily deal site I created that eventually got killed by a Panda update. With all the holiday shopping that went on it’s amazing that any of us survived, but somehow I managed to survive as I hope most of you did too.

The daily deal space during the holiday season was projected to be anywhere from $80 million to $100 million between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ninety percent of holiday shoppers said they were likely to buy a daily deal during this time period and 87 percent were more likely to buy a deal that is suggested to them from a friend.

Utilizing data from their network of over 1,000 affiliate deal sites that includes shopping trends, hottest categories, and the season’s most surprising stocking stuffers TIPPR put together the infographic below to illustrate these shopping trends.

The most interesting stats are:

  • 90 percent of shoppers said they intended to give a deal as a gift in 2011.
  • 29 percent of TIPPR users shared a deal on Facebook.
  • On average, consumers visited daily deals sites 10 times a month, and checked email offers 17 times amonth.
